Hey Bee Hey! It’s blogger Bee here with a taste of honey. I decided to take a different route today. You can usually find me buzzing around Honeycomb Boulevard but today I decided to fly out to Pollination Avenue and check on the Bumble Bees.
The JUNETEENTH SALE brings all the Bees out to work. It's our biggest sale of the year. And Pollination Avenue is beautifully lit with bold beautiful colors. We are bringing all the honey out.
I ran into Momma Bee and she was busy grabbing honey for our Felony Bees. Momma Bee started out as a felony Bee herself. She was on Pollination Boulevard making sure the honey's super sweet for the felony bees.
Formally incarcerated Black women experience unemployment rates that are nearly seven times higher than those of Black women in the general population. One of the main reasons employment is harder to secure after incarceration is the missing block of time, the ever-changing interview process along with advanced hiring techniques that have now drastically changed.
Presenting the skills you have acquired during incarceration properly on an application is key. So I asked the Momma bee if she would give me just a Taste of Honey to pass out to my felony bees. Since Momma Bee started her career out as a felony Bee I asked her to give me three extra drops of honey to pass on that changed the trajectory of her career after incarceration.
Taste of Honey
#1 Being incarcerated taught me very strong organizational skills. Imagine someone telling you that you were going to be living in your bathroom for the next five years. Can you imagine the type of organization it takes to contain the necessities you use on daily basis, including storing food, hygiene, and clothing along with a bed inside your bathroom?
#2 Being able to only shop once a month for my personal needs taught me how to budget, and prioritize and schedule items based on a bi-monthly timeline. A very strong skill set that large corporations appreciate.
#3 Last but more importantly NO ONE CAN OUTWORK YOU! If you are like most individuals who have been incarcerated you have literally worked your antennas off for as much or little as twenty-five cents an hour. Not to mention you may have side hustled by making items you sold for potato chips and cookies. Absolutely, NO ONE can outwork you
If you are one of our Felony Bees then buzz on over to the hive and catch our JUNETEENTH SALE! It is our biggest sale of the year. Our packages include everything from resume revision to career coaching to LinkedIn profiles.
BEE PREPARED! And of course as always when you book your services you will also get an Interview Prep from Momma Bee.
Don’t forget to post your questions directly on our Facebook page and I will buzz over and grab you a taste of honey. Your favorite Blogger Bee!
