Four people smiling in a sparkly, green floral setting. One wears a pink dress, another a blue dress, and another a hat. Festive atmosphere.

Hey Bee, it's your favorite blogger, Bee, here to bring you a Jar of Honey! I know I know I usually bring you a Taste of Honey, but this week we want to bring you enough honey to share with the entire family!

So I went down to “Hollow Tree” lane to find Momma Bee. I wanted to ask her the question that many Bees are asking. With the recent cut of funding for some of our Job core Bees, our family Bees need a little extra honey. I wanted to get to the core of the family. Juneteenth is a celebration that brings us back to the roots of our blackness.

So I asked Momma Bee to take me back to a time when she was raising her baby bees and give me the jar of honey families needs. How did you manage a full swarm of baby bees?

JAR OF HONEY

“Well, you heard the ole saying, 'It takes a village to raise a child (bee)? We relied on our village. We depended on word of mouth and the courage of our neighbors. Most jobs were discovered on the stoops outside apartment buildings where the girls were playing jump rope. If someone heard of an opportunity, we filled each other in. We learned early on that there was power in numbers. This is why, on those rare occasions that this present society speaks of our victories, our turnout in mass numbers is duly noted.

Long before the traditional daycares they have today. We had our village. We had our hive. The mother Bees who were expecting a new Bee was the go-to for baby-sitting. If one baby bee diaper was being changed they were all getting changed. Black women played an important part in our herstory. The most important role they played was giving the baby bees the luxury of being children while we prayed together stayed together and raised our bees together Just us and the village. Believe it or not, there was and always is enough honey for the hive when the village buzz together.

Thank you, momma Bee for reminding me of the power of the hive. Juneteenth is our biggest sale of the year!! This year we are more determined than ever to make sure the Jar of Honey is big enough to make sure all our family bees can feed the family. We have curated the sale to make it affordable to grab a couple of extra jars for your Baby Bees that are entering the workforce.

Let's make sure you and the family are able to BEE Prepared!!

Well, I am off to Orchard lane, to drop off these Jars of honey. Be sure to post any questions you have on a sticky note on our page and #bloggerbee.
