Hey Bee, Hey! It's Blogger Bee here with another Taste Of Honey from Momma Bee. This week, we are back in Arizona. Last month, a huge monsoon swept through, and many bees were severely affected. During the monsoons, bees face challenges like heavy rain that halts foraging. This can lead to food shortages. Bees typically become less active and forage less, and some may not survive if caught in storms.
We are in an economic storm, and depending on where you buzz around, political storms are brewing as well. Momma Bee, some of our Bees have been thriving as Event Planners. But then the economy took a turn. Generally, holiday time is when people hire event planners for their festivities. However, bookings are down. The Bees want to know if any of their skills as event planners can help them land Six-Figure Jobs in Hospitality without a degree.
Taste Of Honey
Hey Blogger Bee, grab a big spoon so we can put a few scoops of honey in the jar.
Oftentimes, we get caught up in titles. Words take on meanings that aren’t reasonable during economic distress. Words like "entrepreneur." Phrases like "I own my own business." We become so accustomed to these titles that we cling to them, even when the structure is shifting.
That’s when we reach into our tool bag and start pulling out those Transferable Skills. Your tool bag DOES NOT NEED a degree to make six figures.
Most high-paying hospitality jobs require experience in customer service, planning, and creativity.
Many six-figure roles in hospitality typically don’t demand a degree. Positions like Hotel Manager, Director of Housekeeping, and Event Director are just a few examples.
Exploring Event Planning
This month, we will highlight roles in the Hospitality Industry that pay six figures and don’t require a degree. This week, we are focusing on Event Planners.
Event Planners are already accustomed to adjustments. They handle multiple vendors and manage disasters on a moment's notice. If you are an Event Planner, you possess skills that the Hospitality Industry is actively seeking.
The Key Transferable Skills: Why Your Six-Figure Job Search Starts With Transferable Skills
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Event planners must communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and staff. This translates to strong guest relations and teamwork in a hospitality setting.
Organization and Time Management:
Managing multiple tasks, timelines, and deadlines is crucial for event success. This skill directly applies to managing hotel operations, scheduling, and staff coordination.
Problem-Solving and Adaptability:
Event planners frequently handle unexpected issues. They think on their feet and stay calm under pressure. This skill is essential for managing guest complaints and resolving operational challenges in hospitality.
Financial Management and Budgeting:
Planning events involves creating and sticking to budgets. This skill is directly applicable to managing a hotel's financial resources, from revenue to expenses.
Event Planner Salary
As of November 10, 2025, the average annual pay for a Hospitality Event Planner in the United States is $75,268. That works out to be approximately $36.19 an hour. This is equivalent to $1,447/week or $6,272/month.
Six figures are very attainable based on the value and experience you bring. Your six-figure job search starts with understanding the skills you already have. Black On The Job can show you how!
Having the skills is not enough if you are moving from entrepreneur to corporate. Just like you need recommendations, networking skills, and marketing ads to land bookings for your event planning business, you will need a Professional Resume to land a job in hospitality. Your resume is your proof of experience and skills.
Preparing for the Interview
Next week, we will discuss how to present yourself in an interview. Remember, Bee, the best way to pivot is to be prepared!
Well, Momma Bee, thank you so much for that Taste of Honey. I can’t wait until next week to explore other roles that pay six figures without a degree. If you have a question for Momma Bee, feel free to message us in our new hive.
