Hey, it's blogger Bee here bringing you another Taste Of Honey from Momma Bee. Last week, Momma Bee went to Japan with her daughter on vacation. While she was gone, several of our Bees sent in an email telling us that they had been displaced from their jobs in the Federal Government. I am here in Chicago talking to some of our Federal Bees that have been targeted in this new political climate. I am down here on Leafcutter Blvd, where a lot of our endangered Rusty Patched Bumble Bees live. Recently, the powers that be have let so many of our Federal Bees go without warning and have left them displaced right before the cold winter months. Some of our Bees have been clocking into the Federal Buildings for almost twenty years. They are asking if you can help them find their way into a new career

A Taste Of Honey from Momma Bee
First off, my Federal Bees, you are not displaced. You are not leaving the Federal Zone with only a small severance. There is actually no amount of money that could account for the countless years and time you have put into your career. I have spoken with some of the Bees that started their career many years ago and have gotten married, given birth, raised children and sent them off to college during their time with the Federal government. It may seem like you have actually put your entire life together there. Most of our Federal Bees had plans on a secure retirement along with all the perks that having that consistent Federal paycheck brings.
As Black people, we are born to pivot. The deposit they gave you on that sudden dismissal is just fuel to not add to the fire but to start a new blaze. You are leaving with very strong transferable skills.
However, Federal may have seemed like a secure route to retirement. The large six-figure-plus salary you will make when you take all those skills over to corporate will quickly get you buzzing in a new direction. Corporate directors love to hire Federal employees because of their transferable skills, so let's look at just a few.
The Federal Career Pivot: From Government Service to Corporate Success
Transferable skills
Data analysis and strategic thinking:
Federal roles often involve deep data analysis and strategic planning, skills that are crucial for business growth and decision-making in the corporate world.
Adaptability and collaboration:
Federal employees frequently work across different departments and adapt to changing circumstances, demonstrating adaptability and cross-functional collaboration that are vital in corporate settings.
Project and program management:
Experience managing complex projects under strict budgets and regulations translates directly to private sector roles where efficiency and resource allocation are critical.
So next time someone asks you have you been suddenly displaced with the loss of your Federal job? Just answer with a strong NO!!! “No, I have not been displaced by the ever-changing political climate. I pivoted and replaced my regular paycheck with an upgrade to a bigger bag in corporate money! I didn’t get off the ladder of success; I simply moved over to a taller ladder.
Black on the job has you covered. Grab your Federal Pivot Package and step over to the new ladder of success. You know the Tall one, where there is a bigger bag with every step. Don't wait till they come for you be prepared.
Well, Momma Bee, thank you for showing our Bees a new ladder to climb with a bigger bag

I am in neither. I am just here to learn and expand on what I already know.
Golden Bee-as a federal bee pivoting back into Private industry, this blog touches on many of the transferable skills used across the government. Especially customer service (where I started) to the GS 11-12 level (where I ended). I'm slowly coming out of shock. I'm back to BOTJ, to help navigate back to private industry to finish my career. This was not on my bingo card.
Silver Bee here - Being forced out of my federal career after 16 years has been the most degrading thing that’s happened to me. I was looking forward to my last 4 before retirement and now I have to pivot to private bc I can’t even fathom going back into fed.
Im a Fed bee thats ready to pivot to the public. Nervous, but excited to see what happens
Before becoming a SAHM Bee in January, I was a corporate bee. I’ve always wanted to cross over into Fed but never had the “know” to do so until the resources with BOTJ. Now I feel I can accomplish any and everything! Learning skills pay bills (that’s now drilled in me) gave me a perspective to this here job market. It makes the “what you know” matters.
This was a really good read because it not only encouraged our displaced bees, it gave a solution to help as well. We all need a little push and this could be their blessing in disguise. To spend 20, 25 even 30 years to be let go us disgusting. I can onl…
