Parents of Children with ADHD: Turn Daily Structure into Career Strengths
Hey Bee, Hey!! Blogger Bee here with another sweet Taste Of Honey from Momma Bee. This week I decided to buzz over to Twig Lane and speak with a few of our sweat bees that are living in diverse habitats. Sweat Bees are usually found in both solitary and communal groups. In some cases, our Bees that are parents of children with the gift of ADHD . Momma Bee our parents of children with ADHD are having a hard time finding employment that would allow them the freedom to monitor and guide their children. Can you give the bees a Taste of Honey to help them along the way.

Taste of Honey
Grab a pedal and a couple sticky notes blogger Bee. I want you to take notes on a few things we want to tell the Bees. Earlier this season we talked about our adult Bees with ADHD.
The most important thing we went over is perspective. We learned that having ADHD was not some curse but rather a blesssing, that not everyone gets to enjoy. But, now we are talking about the children with gift that the parent does not have and may not understand.
If your child is living with ADHD don’t look at it as a problem that needs to be solved. You are making a gift a problem. Children can feel the spirit of parent. So first, we must adjust our perspective and research. Understand that your child has a unique gift that allows them to hyperfocus. Talk to them about this extraordinary gift. Yes, let them be aware that there are some pitfalls they have to be careful with just like any other gift. Just think about, even superheroes all have some pitfalls they have to be aware of. Tell them about superman and the kryptonite. Can kryptonite take superman out? Yes. But only briefly. It’s the sacrifice he has to make for having the gift. Once you get your children thinking of ADHD as a gift instead of a curse, they are able to navigate bbetter in the world. When they are able to navigate more and more without you monitoring the gift then you will have more options to navigate your career.
Not sure what direction you want to go in. Then let’s do a skill check of parents of children with the gift of ADHD.
Structure and routine
Creating structure: Developing consistent daily routines for waking up, meals, homework, and bedtime to provide predictability and reduce anxiety.
Visual aids: Using charts, checklists, and calendars to help the child visually track tasks and expectations.
Task breakdown: Breaking large assignments or chores into smaller, more manageable steps to prevent the child from feeling overwhelmed
These are definitely skills you could roll over into the educational workforce. Contact Black On The Job and get set up with career coaching.
Well Momma Bee, thank you for giving us some insight into how our Bees can change not only their perspective and career but change the perspective for our baby bees! Remember if you have a question you would like to ask mommabee either post in the group and hashtag #mommabee #tasteofhoney or #bloggerbee and our next blog could be for you.

My son (who is an adult now) has ADHD. I was able to work in government and the flexibility really helped me spend the time needed to be very hands in and active in his education. My issue now is, I have gotten comfortable with that flexibility and I am missing out on the money. Now I am watching the live & catching up on everything missed in order to get what I am worth! My advice? Don’t get comfortable!
